Be inspired

Months ago, I’ve subscribed to Bo Sanchez’s GodWhispers Club. Twice a week, I look forward to the inspiring messages such as this one:

I’m ashamed to admit it, but financial struggles and being the sole breadwinner for the past years have changed me a lot. Sadly, focusing on these struggles has not turned me into a better person.   It’s like the joy of living has been slowly taken from me and I’m the one inflicting it to myself.  I want to turn my life around.  I’m still a work in progress and there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done.  Inspirational readings such as the one above serve as light of the path that I have to take.  Thank you, Bro. Bo.  Thank you, Jesus.

Friday Quote #10

You come to love not by finding the perfect person,
but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly.

~ Sam Keen

The heart has reasons that reason does not understand.

~ Jacques Benigne Bossuel

Love does not consist in gazing at each other
but in looking together in the same direction.

~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Friday Quote #9

The toughest thing about success is that you’ve got to keep on being a success.

- Irving Berlin

Many people say that people who have constantly faced failure have a hard time getting back up again and again. But I also think that people who have been successful have their own share of struggles. After all, it is not easy to accept failure especially if one’s not used to it.

Success is going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm.

- Winston Churchill

Although it is very hard to maintain one’s enthusiasm despite all the failure, I agree with Winston Churchill on this one.

Friday Quote #8

Memories that are nothing yet mean everything.

- taken from “S Diary”
“S Diary” is a Korean film about a woman who decides to interrogate her past lovers about why their relationships failed. However, their answers hurt her so much that provoked her to get back at them. Her revenge went out well but it didn’t ease her heartaches. The movie ended with her becoming an author of the book entitled “Memories that are nothing yet mean everything”. It ended with her still in search of what love really means.

In the movie, it seemed that her ex-lovers were just toying with her but they actually cared for her at first.   It just didn’t work out well.  Her first love decided to pursue priesthood, the second one married another for financial stability, and the third one is an irresponsible, two-timing mama’s boy.  Is she just so unlucky in love, or is true love really hard to find?

Friday Quote #7

I’m currently loaded with work right now so, I might as well feature these quotes:

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”

- Confucius (BC 551-BC 479).

“It is quite possible to work without results, but never will there be results without work.”

- Unknown Source

Friday Quote #6

Funny birthday quotes, but true:

“The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.” - Lucille ball

“Age is strictly a case of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.” - Jack Benny

“Few women admit their age. Few men act theirs.” - Anonymous

“It is utterly false and cruelly arbitrary to put all the play and learning into childhood, all the work into middle age, and all the regrets into old age.” - Margaret Mead

Happy birthday Guia and me!

Friday Quote #5

We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives… not looking for flaws, but for potential.

~Ellen Goodman

I don’t usually write down my new year’s resolution.  They end up being dumped and forgotten somewhere later on.  But I guess it is time to write one and seriously work on it.  I just hope I would be as optimistic the whole year as I am now.

Friday Quote #4

“What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace.”

-Agnes M. Pharo

Just like what Agnes M. Pharo said, Christmas is a fervent wish for peace. In my hometown, this Christmas is different.  Just yesterday, two separate bombing incidents occurred in Iligan City.  Many people got injured and three people died.  Right now, residents of Iligan City and the rest of Lanao del Norte are still facing bomb threats.  Silence and fear replaced the usual fire crackers.  Curfew has been implemented.  This is not the Christmas we had been used to.  I couldn’t get enough sleep worrying about my family there.  I hope and pray that this act of terrorism would stop. I hope and pray for peace in my hometown and in all corners of the world not only this Christmas…
