I often watch TV Patrol news programme to know what is going on in the country. But as I have always anticipated, all I could hear are political and graft and corruption issues.  There’s also the issue with a pre-need plan company. It has been going on for months and the blame has been passed from one person to the other. But there is not enough steps done to help out those who bought such plans from that company.  This sometimes make me wonder if it is really safe to entrust you future to pre-need plan companies? But then we need to invest for our future. We need security. There are still a number of good insurance companies out there. All we have to do is to thoroughly compare term life insurance quotes and see if the company is really trustworthy.

I always watch documentaries from a Philippine TV channel. Most of the time, they feature children suffering from serious illnesses such as cerebral palsy.

Cerebral Palsy is an umbrella term for a group of disorders affecting body movement, balance, and posture. Loosely translated, it means “brain paralysis.” Cerebral Palsy is caused by damage to the motor control centers of the developing brain and can occur during pregnancy, infancy, or early childhood.

There are two problems that can cause cerebral palsy:

• failure of the brain to develop properly
• neurological damage to the child’s developing brain

There is no cure for cerebral palsy, but various forms of therapy can help a person with the disorder to function and live more effectively. My heart always go out to people who are suffering from cerebral palsy. Above all, I admire those who still face life with optimism and those people who lovingly support them.

I only drink little amount of red wine especilly when I’m having a hard time sleeping. And sometimes, I get interested in the process of making wine. I do love grape vineyards, after all! I actually dream of having one.

I have just learned that wine barrels are made from Oak trees because of the oak’s porous nature. An oak barrel allows some levels of evaporation and oxygenation to occur in wine but typically not at levels that would cause oxidation or spoilage of the wine. I was actually surprised to find out that the interaction between the wine and the phenols within the wood produces vanilla type flavors!  I had always thought that the sweetness of wine is due to the sugar mixed in the wine, but it’s just another effect of the chemical properties of the oak!

And it took me more than two decades to read about this…

When my father took home those big, flat-screen, CRT television, my siblings and I were really awed that we spent too much time in front of those bright objects watching our favorite action movies. When I first came back here last 2006, I was amazed more by the appearance of those LCD television that I frequented the nearest electronic store. At that time, most of those huge LCD television cost about half a million yen. Two years later, the prices became more than 50% cheaper. Maybe I would just wait another two years when my dream home theater and home theater seating becomes more available, eh? Of course it still depends solely on my finances.
