Bonding with my brother?

In about a week, I’ll be on my way home! I planned to do another round of detox before I go home but I had loads to do at work that I had to go there last Saturday. Eating just fruits could definitely make me dizzy, making me less capable of thinking clear. So I canceled the plan. But there’s a lot of holiday feasts ahead of me and I’m getting really worried to ward off extra calories! I have to at least maintain what I’ve accomplished so far. Everyone agrees that the best fat burner is exercise so I have to do it. But how can I motivate myself and my family?

When I browsed through the Facebook updates, I’ve noticed that there’s a fun run (at least 3kms) in my hometown on December 26th. It’s one of the alumni homecoming activities. My brother and I went to the same school and I have to convince him to run with me. I think most of my high school friends have no intention of joining. You see, I don’t want to be too kind to my brother because I don’t want him to treat me like how he treats my mother. It’s a long and painful story… but I gotta do it. It’s the best way for me to combat weight gain. Maybe I’ll be able to convince my mother also. It’s gotta be a fun Christmas vacation!

Christmas feasts begin

I have not even started running again, yet here I am, so full after the Christmas party with other Filipinos in the office. I think it is about time to try out a very safe, if not the best weight loss supplement. We held the party at a KBox and because of two generous colleagues, we did not have to pay anything! It would have cost 29.50SGD each person. Even if we had to pay for ourselves, the rate was not that bad. It was already a dinner buffet, with free flow non-alcoholic drinks. The main dishes were not that good but the desserts were. There were even about 5 flavors of ice cream! We started at around 7:30PM and ended at 11PM. The food though was served only until 10PM.

Of course, we had Kris Kringle so I got one on my wish list: a digital clock, finally!

Online Shops

When I was still in Japan, I have never visited online shops because they are mostly in Japanese! Well, except for Amazon-Japan where I bought some books. So most of the time, I just go to the malls and window-shop. When I arrived here in Singapore, I window-shop even more so often. But then the malls near my place are so crowded and I could no longer enjoy a leisurely stroll. Lately, I came across GMarket, where stuff like clothes, accessories, and even diet pills for women are sold. Browsing through the pages definitely feels like window-shopping! I also came across SingSale, where I get good bargains. Just last week, I bought L’Oreal lipsticks that are less than 6SGD each! Just right in time for Christmas.

Same face problem

I have recently bought this night and day cream that has the Dead Sea minerals in it. The sales staff was really good at convincing me that it could definitely help clear out my acne scars. Indeed, after a few weeks of usage, the smaller scars are slowly becoming less visible but on the other hand, it is becoming more obvious that I do need the help of adult acne treatments. The scars might be getting less visible but new ones are popping out! I also have no idea if it is good to use cream for acne and another for the scars at the same time. Argh! I wonder when will they stop coming out. I’m already 30 and it’s been my problem since I was 14 years old!

Would it work?

Being able to understand all those online stores websites, visiting them is always a part of my daily surfing. GMarket is a favorite though I’ve only purchased 2 items so far. I love looking at the blouses from Korea, almost tempted to buy most of the time but I always hold back fearing that no size would fit me. I don’t feel good also to buy something from size L! That would be unacceptable! The bags that are from Korea are also tempting but since it’s not a necessity, I’m contented to just browse through all the photos.

Another group of stuff that I got so curious about were the corsets from Japan, and other elastic stuff that you could put in the arms, legs, and hips. The ads claim that they could make those problematic areas slim. But after reading the reviews, no one mentioned about it being effective since most just bought the product. I don’t want to take the risk (the corset costs more than 30SGD). Well, that brings me back to the sole option: exercise!

One at a time

I love going to the malls just to window-shop. But sometimes, I dread going into one because of sales reps approaching you to try out their products. I’m not saying that I don’t like them, because it’s their job. It’s just that I really feel bad every time I say no.

Early this evening, a lady literally blocked my way to introduce me to their product claiming that it’s the best wrinkle cream there is. I could not say “no” so I just let her lead the way. Besides, I must have finally acquired enough wrinkles that I got approached. While she did the talking, my more than a decade old acne scars is my number one priority now (yes, I still do hope I could manage to at least lessen their number). I think it would be better to just focus on one thing first. Or is there a cream somewhere that is really good at hitting two birds with one stone?

It was a bad idea to tell what I thought to a sales rep. She would definitely offer me something for it. Before the discussion became lengthy, I asked her the price and that sent me off running from their shop.

I loved the way it was

For almost two decades, I’ve been looking for the best acne skin care. And for almost two decades, my face has never been acne-free.

There’s also one thing that I’ve always wanted to do: try out those facials. I’ve heard that getting facials could help prevent acne. Last night, I had one. After scrubbing my face with that metal spatula-like equipment, I was asked if I wanted to have my eyebrows trimmed. It was free of charge and I was a bit curious so I gave the go signal. Trimming is not shaping, right? Or is it? Because when I finally brought myself infront of a mirror, I was totally shocked and had the urge to demand to give me my eyebrows back! Now, they look like they are just a pair of curve lines! How hideous they are to look at! It would have been better if I put on makeup but I don’t. Now I can’t bring myself to hold my head up high because I feel like my eyebrows are missing. Never will I allow this to happen again.

Two lessons learned: never give in to curiosity easily and if I do want someone to trim my eyebrows for me, I should, by all means tell her to keep it thick as they are. Only remove the stray ones, please.

How long do you say these could grow back?

Something that can make them acne disappear

I have been using the best acne treatment that I have ever tried. But there are things that I could not avoid for a pimple to come out from time to time. First, can I say it’s in my blood? My parents also suffered from acne in their teens and my mother still has them at 55 years old. Second, the pre-menstrual period. Years ago, they appear on either side of my cheeks. Having “claimed” every cheek area, it is now terrorizing my chin and neck areas. Third, I have just started an exercise regime. Perhaps excessive sweating is causing them to now appear always. Fourth, I often eat chinese food, where most of them have shrimp (ground, sliced, small, or big ones). Shrimp triggers my acne breakouts. Ok, I can avoid eating shrimp but it is just one of my favorite seafood!

Is there an acne treatment that could help my acne disappear completely even if I sweat often and eat shrimp to my heart’s content? Now, that would be the best acne treatment ever!

Trying out Gmarket

I often see Gmarket banners in my Yahoo Mail pages. So I visit it often. Only a few gadgets are sold there, but it is flooded with clothes, bags, perfumes, and other accessories. The prizes are low too. Now, this presents me an option to try wholesale apparel for my Christmas gifts this year! After all, I do have dozens of relatives living close by. Kidding. I still don’t have the capacity to play Santa to everyone. Since it is still the Great Singapore Sale, they also have big discounts going on.

I’ve been eyeing this bag organizer because I badly needed one. Well, I guess ladies do need one as we change bags from time to time. Previously, it was sold at 10SGD or higher and shipping cost is not free unless you buy a certain number of items. When I visited that page again, it went down to 4SGD! The seller is just from Singapore, so I only had to pay 1SGD extra for shipping fee. Two work days later, I now have my organizer. Next time, maybe I’ll try buying some of those cute clothes from Korea for my little Shaynna.

Motivation problem solved

There were times when I was able to exercise continuously for two weeks max. Then my resolve usually crumbles, then I take at least one month “rest”. This went on for months until we transferred to our current apartment and I completely stopped exercising. Not even a single stretching exercise. Then my family came to visit in May. At that time, I weighed 53 kgs. They went home to Philippines last month, I took my weight and panicked when the scale registered past 55kgs! Maybe now is the right time for me to try out those fat burners. I was only bent on cutting back on rice because I do consume a lot of it but I feel that there’s a lot missing. I need to sweat it out.

Then I got this flyer about a gym only for ladies near my place. I went down there for consultation. I freaked out because I now weigh 55.9kgs. I was told I am 3.9kgs overweight. Not only that, at 30, my metabolism rate is that of a 38 year old. If I don’t do anything about it, I’m pretty sure that I’d become more like my mom in just a short time.

I had been trying to get motivated enough but after that consultation, I certainly will be up on my feet trying to sweat it out. My journey to lose 3.9kgs begins now.

Not my bestfriend

Diamond is a woman’s best friend. But not in my case because I can’t afford certified diamonds! Kidding aside, I’m not really into jewelries. I don’t wear a single ring nor a pair of earrings. I don’t like wearing bracelets, but I love wearing necklaces (am I contradicting myself here?).
The photo on the right shows all my necklaces. Let’s keep this a secret between us, OK? Almost all of these cost only about S$10. Some of you may have noticed two of these in an Avon brochure. The one in the middle is the most expensive one: a Swarovski! It’s my favorite not only because of its price but it was given to me as a farewell gift from my friends in Japan.

I need a bicycle

One of the things that I had a hard time leaving in Japan was my bicycle. I no longer know what became of it. My sudden relocation to Singapore didn’t give me enough time to sell it to the bicycle shop. It helped a lot in preventing undesirable bulge in my belly, that is now becoming ever visible as my stay here in Singapore gets longer. A great fat burner, indeed. And I really miss bicycling.

We are moving to a new place on Saturday. That place is far from the grocery store and it would be hard carrying stuff home. I just hope there’s a sale on bicycles somewhere. Now, I miss those shops in Japan that sell second-hand stuff. At least I could buy a used one that’s half the price of a new one but still in very good condition. There’s a good thing about the new place, though. It’s closer to the office. I could just walk home.
