Looking forward to the next round

So I’ve mentioned quite a few times here that I tried a one-week detox diet program. It did not actually serve as a natural fat burner, but I was glad I shed a few pounds.

Today, I had to go to undergo breast ultrasound again and see a specialist. The last time I had my checkup, both had many lumps, though thank God there’s nothing that presented a problem. When I got my results this afternoon, most of the lumps on the left side were gone! There were only two left. Thank God! But the right side still has many on it that made me a bit worried still. Before I got out of the specialist’s clinic, I never even received some health tips on making the situation better the natural way. She just told me to come in for checkup after 6 months, but if I do notice something that’s stationary, I should see her immediately. That’s it for 60SGD+GST? Not to mention the 100SGD+GST and 10SGD hospital fee. All on me because it is not covered in my company’s health insurance.

I do believe that the all-natural detox program contributed to the good news. I actually did notice that after the program, shooting pains on my breast no longer occur as often as before and almost unnoticeable. So I’m looking forward to the next round of my detox program next week!

Thank God for the good news and thanks to Kim for telling me about the program.

One at a time

I love going to the malls just to window-shop. But sometimes, I dread going into one because of sales reps approaching you to try out their products. I’m not saying that I don’t like them, because it’s their job. It’s just that I really feel bad every time I say no.

Early this evening, a lady literally blocked my way to introduce me to their product claiming that it’s the best wrinkle cream there is. I could not say “no” so I just let her lead the way. Besides, I must have finally acquired enough wrinkles that I got approached. While she did the talking, my more than a decade old acne scars is my number one priority now (yes, I still do hope I could manage to at least lessen their number). I think it would be better to just focus on one thing first. Or is there a cream somewhere that is really good at hitting two birds with one stone?

It was a bad idea to tell what I thought to a sales rep. She would definitely offer me something for it. Before the discussion became lengthy, I asked her the price and that sent me off running from their shop.

Do it naturally

I have survived a week of the GM diet program and lost 2 kilograms. Since then, I’ve been going around telling my friends about it. I have some friends who are using diet pills and so far, they have not experienced any fat burners side effects. They are telling me to try some but I would rather undergo the GM diet program than facing the risks. Anyhow, soon I’ll be busy losing more weight because a friend asked me to be one of her bridesmaids. The wedding will be early next year. I just hope I could accomplish my goal of losing at least 5 kilograms in 4 months!

GM Diet: Day 07

Goal for today:
Today your food intake will consist of brown rice, fruit juices and all the vegetables you care to consume.

I woke up a bit late so I rushed to the bathroom half-awake. As I was taking a shower, I noticed that I had difficulty breathing and dizzy. About a couple of minutes later, I felt my hands becoming cold (even if I turned on the water heater) and shaking a bit. Getting cold hands are my signs of prolonged hunger so I changed as fast as I can to be able to have breakfast before leaving for work. I’m not sure if it’s the effect of this programme but from day 05 until today, I’ve got less and less hunger pangs, thus less cravings.

So what did I do with the vegetables? Got nothing else in mind but cooking Japanese curry. Ate curry and very small amount of brown rice for breakfast and lunch. Taking in sips of cold fruit juice was a treat. I went out with friends and I ended up having mixed vegetables and a slice of tofu at the food court.Notice that I’ve underlined the word “care” above.

I didn’t end up eating much today because surprisingly, I now care how much I eat and what I eat! Before, I usually finish a plate with a heap of white rice and very greasy dishes without thinking about the consequences. I think that’s the best thing I got from this program.

I’m so elated even if I only shed about 1.5 kgs as compared to the 10-17 pounds mentioned at this programme’s overview. Also, I’ve discovered that there’s still some discipline left in me. On the other hand, I also realized that coffee with cream is what I miss most! I can give up a slice of cheesecake for a cup of coffee with cream. But then again, I’ll definitely drink it black more often.

Looking forward for another round of detoxification next month!

GM Diet: Day 06

Goal: Beef and vegetables. Today you may eat an unlimited amount of beef and vegetables. Eat to your heart’s content.

Sounds really good but after all I’ve been through, I can’t bring my self to eat to my heart’s content. I’m done with raw vegetables so I decided to steam all (carrots, cabbage, young corn cub, string beans). Made “bistek” from beef but only a small portion as I don’t really like beef. Then just mixed everything. I even ate the vegetable soup from Day 04. Then had the mixed veggies for my lunch and dinner.

Felt as refreshed as ever despite having only 6 hours of sleep. Weight remained the same as yesterday. I actually like to have another round of this programme but I would like to take a break from all the food preparations. Maybe I’ll just do Day 01-02 this weekend. We’ll see.

GM Diet: Day 05

On the menu today: Two 10 oz. portions of lean beef and 6 whole tomatoes.

It is supposed to be “feast day”, but because of the tomatoes, it didn’t feel like one. I had to stuff my mouth with tomatoes and swallow them as fast as I can. I just pan-grilled the beef about 80% of the implied amount of beef. Ate about 1/4 of it during breakfast, 1/2 during lunch, and the last 1/4 for dinner. The tomatoes made my stomach feel really sour that even if you don’t feel like adding about one quart of water intake, my stomach mandated it.

And oh, the weight reading is now more consistent: I lost 1 kilogram! It feels so rewarding and I even feel like doing the programme again for another week. But we’ll see.

I am excited about tomorrow: unlimited beef and veggies! Although I prefer to have unlimited veggies than beef.

GM Diet: Day 04

On the menu today: Up to 8 pieces banana, 3 glasses of milk and the “GM Wonder Soup”I feel more refreshed today.

Although my weight remained at 57 kgs this morning, I felt lighter and no longer felt bloated anymore. Had a cup of the soup and was surprised at how easily it could make me feel full that I was only able to finish half of a banana. When I reached the office, a colleague attempted to lure me into trying her leche flan (caramel custard) but it didn’t seem so appealing to me despite the fact that it is one of my favorite Filipino desserts. Before lunch, I snacked on the remaining half of my “breakfast banana”. At lunch, just had soup and milk. Before dinner, had a couple of banana and a glass of milk.

Finally, for dinner, I had a cup of soup and now, I still feel so full that having beef tomorrow is not that appealing anymore.
I just dread eating tomatoes.I’m not sure if it is because of this detoxification process or because of my monthly visit that I took more than 5 trips to the toilet. And when I came home, I weighed 56.5 kgs. After dinner though, I was 57 kgs again. :D

One thing about the GM soup, though. I advise you just to prepare half of it. With the other veggies on it, you will definitely have a hard time eating everything. I don’t like celery so I just put in squash. I couldn’t find the Lipton Onion Mix but I was lucky to get the Lipton Onion Mushroom mix. I think the mushroom in it and the squash made it a very tasty soup. And yes, it is true that the 4th day would be just like any ordinary day. I felt like I could go through today even without the soup.

Now, how do I cook the beef for tomorrow? Still, I’m worried about the tomatoes. How I wish they’ve put in tomato substitutes….

GM Diet: Day 03

Todays food: A mixture of fruits and vegetables of your choice, any quantity. No bananas yet. No potatoes.

I knew that the 3rd day would be difficult. First, I have to go to work. Then, I had no idea how much flavoring to put should I decide to cook vegetables. I ended up bringing a huge bowl of salad (the usual: carrots, cucumber, and lettuce), strawberries, and watermelon. For breakfast, I had the boiled squash and spinach prepared last night.

I don’t know if I’ll just shrug it off but a manager asked me if I were pregnant! My first thought: I must be really fat. I had strawberries in my hand and he told me that in the Western countries, pregnant women eat strawberries. I vehemently said “no, I’m definitely not pregnant”, and that I am on a detox diet. I just left him laughing in the hallway (meaning he didn’t believe me). You people just wait and see (while hoping that this would work out)…

I snacked at strawberries in the morning but because they were sour, I was really hungry before lunch break. I almost finished the huge bowl of veggies and almost grabbed a slice of grilled pork from my friend’s lunch box. Thankfully, I was able to convince myself not to waste my two days worth of sacrifice for just a slice of grilled pork.

At about 4PM, I was hungry again so I finished my lunch leftover plus two slices of papaya. I think I’ve had too much raw veggies because later on, I threw up almost everything. Surprisingly, even with an empty stomach, I didn’t feel like eating again until 9PM. I needed to eat something warm so I prepared the G.M.’S Wonder Soup even if it’s supposed to be taken tomorrow. I’ll just post my version of the wonder soup tomorrow. ;)

The GM Diet guidelines mentioned that I would have less cravings on the fourth day. We’ll see…

GM Diet: Day 02

It’s vegetables and potato day! The goal is to stuff myself with raw or cooked veggies.

I got up at around 10AM, a bit earlier than my usual Sundays. But I was a bit excited because I can finally feel full today, even if I don’t like potatoes. The potatoes that I bought are small so I took two, prepared and baked them in the microwave oven. Patted a small amount of butter but I had to remove the skin anyway, so the butter was almost non-existent. I also blanched some spinach and mixed it with apple cider vinegar. Yeah, not that appetizing but I have to keep going.

A couple of hours after my “heavy” breakfast, I got hungry and prepared a huge bowl of salad (lettuce, carrots and cucumber). If I eat it without any dressing, I would definitely throw up so I put in the tomato dressing that I got from the Japanese products shelve at the supermarket. Then I took a long nap, woke up 2 hours later. Got hungry again so I got another huge bowl of raw veggies. Then I went out for a bit to buy fruits and veggies for tomorrow. For dinner, I boiled squash and spinach.

I don’t like veggies day but at least I’m not that hungry as often as yesterday. I just hope I can survive the third day and I have to go to work, too! There’s no difference in my weight than yesterday, but I’m not so sure because I only have an analog weighing scale. Anyway, I started to feel the cleansing effects ;)

GM Diet: Day 01

I met up with a friend whom I haven’t seen for 6 months and she lost a lot of weight! Not to mention, she looked great. When I asked how she did it, she told me about the General Motors (GM) Diet. The 7-day eating plan appears so difficult especially for me who cannot function properly without eating rice! I could actually convince myself to get serious on running but I need to detoxify from within. I do feel that I’ve been accumulating a lot of toxins for years. Also, the shooting pain on my left breast (probably due to the lumps) has been getting worse each day. I’ve read somewhere that detoxification could help so why not hit two birds with one stone?

Armed with encouragements from my friends, I started GM diet today. The goal: feed myself with fruits except banana. Good thing that melon is recommended as it is only one of the few fruits that I could get myself to eat. I’ve decided to start the programme on a Saturday because I’m afraid I would pass out if I ever go to the office with no carbohydrate intake.I woke up at 9AM, had a huge bowl of rock melon and lots of water. An hour later, I felt hungry so I grabbed a bowl of watermelon then another glass of water. By 3PM, I’ve had 4 bowls of melon all in all and lots of water so that meant countless trips to the toilet. As the day wore off, I’m feeling more light-headed as ever and seemed like my strength had left me.

I had to go out for a bit to buy the vegetables for tomorrow. On my way home, I was hungry again and really, really light-headed so I dropped by Coffee Bean to get a regular-sized black coffee. Yeah, black coffee is allowed but it was not fun drinking it. After all, I do love cream and sugar in my coffee. Well, at least it helped lessen my hunger and light-headedness for about 2 hours.  From late afternoon until evening, I have consumed 2 more bowls of melon and lots of water.

I’m really glad that Day 1 is over but there’s still 6 more days before I could eat rice and meat again! I just hope I could suppress my cravings for 2 more days. They did say that the 4th day would be a walk in the park, right? Yeah, it also feels a bit weird not eating something salty, something that’s cooked with soy sauce. Ahhhh…. I really look forward to having potatoes tomorrow.

Day 1 starting weight: 57.5 kgs
Day 1 end weight: 57.0 kgs

Other observation:
- Getting out and walking under the sun sort of brought back a little of my strength, maybe because it took my mind off not having eating rice today

I loved the way it was

For almost two decades, I’ve been looking for the best acne skin care. And for almost two decades, my face has never been acne-free.

There’s also one thing that I’ve always wanted to do: try out those facials. I’ve heard that getting facials could help prevent acne. Last night, I had one. After scrubbing my face with that metal spatula-like equipment, I was asked if I wanted to have my eyebrows trimmed. It was free of charge and I was a bit curious so I gave the go signal. Trimming is not shaping, right? Or is it? Because when I finally brought myself infront of a mirror, I was totally shocked and had the urge to demand to give me my eyebrows back! Now, they look like they are just a pair of curve lines! How hideous they are to look at! It would have been better if I put on makeup but I don’t. Now I can’t bring myself to hold my head up high because I feel like my eyebrows are missing. Never will I allow this to happen again.

Two lessons learned: never give in to curiosity easily and if I do want someone to trim my eyebrows for me, I should, by all means tell her to keep it thick as they are. Only remove the stray ones, please.

How long do you say these could grow back?

Workout gone wrong?

Worried about the rapid increase of my weight since coming to Singapore, I decided to sign up for a gym. It is an all-ladies gym and their method is quite different. There’s not a single treadmill but there are equipments that target the problem areas. However, most of them would involve the upper arma even if it targets the belly. A month later, I met up with a friend and the first thing she noticed was my arms! She said they’re now so huge that it looks like the sleeves of my blouse would be torn off. I do love my friends being honest with me but that alarmed me more. It’s not like I signed at the best muscle builder gym! Just look at my arms now…

There must be something I’m not doing right. Or maybe I should just focus on those machines that would purely involve only my legs…
