Birthday rush

October 12 was a school day but it was hard to invite Shaynna’s classmates for a birthday party. So I decided to bring in snacks to school. A week before, I have asked my mother to make an advance order of Kiddie Meals from Jollibee and have it delivered to Shaynna’s school at 2:30PM. They have snacks at 3:00PM and go home at 3:30PM.

On that special day, we arrived at almost 3:00PM but no delivery from Jollibee yet. So my mother and a cousin went to that Jollibee outlet to follow-up the orders. Unfortunately, they had a miscommunication and thought that the delivery should be at 6PM! I was frantic because the teachers told me the children were beginning to get restless. They already sang a song for Shaynna and the teachers did their best to keep the children entertained. At 3:15PM my mother and cousin arrived with the snacks. We only had 15 minutes left to distribute the food! The Jollibee crew must have panicked because the even forgot to put in forks for the spaghetti and straws for the juice! Fortunately, my mother insisted on bringing plastic spoons for the macaroni salad she made.

Despite being late, at least the worry from Shaynna’s face was wiped away when she saw us enter her classroom. I told her to help distribute the toys to her classmates and happily posed with them:

I remember sitting in one of those classroom chairs for almost the whole class duration. She was so afraid to let go of me so I had to ask the teachers to let me stay. Her confidence now is clearly the exact opposite to how she behaved on that first day at school more than a year ago.

That was really a hair raising experience. Good thing your mother and cousin were able to bring along the food from Jollibee. They (the Jollibee personnel involved) should be reprimanded for the boo boo they committed. You should write a complaint to the head office of Jollibee so that those people can be severely reprimanded. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.
