Have you heard of mesothelioma before? I haven’t until recently. It is a form of cancer that is almost caused by previous exposure to asbestos. I won’t go into detail on this one, but it mostly affects the outer lining of the lungs and internal chest wall.

Asbestos have been widely used in the industries and construction projects. But for health and safety reasons, this has been banned in many developed countries, but are still used widely in some developing countries. I have no idea if this has been banned in the Philippines or not. I was even more surprised to find out that a form of asbestos had been found in eight major brands of children’s crayons! I guess we have more to watch out for aside from melamine, huh? I wonder if we could ever use something that is 100% safe…
