Which one?

I’ve always been crazy about Korean Drama. The last one I watched was “The Vineyard Man”, the story of Ji Hyun, a city girl who fell in love with the farmer who was raised by her grandfather.

The city girl was portrayed by Yoon Eun Hye, who was also the lead actress in Goong (Princess Hours) and Coffee Prince. I really enjoyed this drama. For me, it’s better than Coffee Prince.

Before she fell deeply in love with the farmer, she met her “dream guy” from college again, who was already a doctor, and they started going out. But her heart chose the farmer even if he’s the exact opposite to her “dream guy”. When her friend asked her what she liked about the farmer she said…

“Kyung Min (the doctor) is the type of guy who gives you an umbrella when it rains. But Taek-Gi (the farmer) is the type of guy who walks with you in the rain.”

So sweet, isn’t it? How about you? Which type of guy, gal, or even a friend do you prefer?

If I were Ji Hyun, I would have fallen in love with Taek-Gi also.

Ochita

Difficult situations often make a person learn something new and stick it to his mind.  This is usually the case, well, at least for me.

The Japanese word “ochita”, is the past tense and colloquial form of the word “ochiru”.

ochiru (???) means:
(1) to fall down; to drop; (2) to fail (e.g. exam); (3) to crash; to degenerate; to degrade; (4) to fade; to come out (e.g. a stain);

One time, I felt like I was a walking zombie on my way home.  I was holding my train ticket as I got out of the train but a Japanese lady was so impatient that she dashed into the train and bumped into me.  Being half-awake as I was, I was shocked when my train ticket fell into the train tracks through that narrow gap between the platform and the train.  The lady stared at me and then rushed inside the train without even apologizing, while I felt other pair of eyes looking at me.  I felt so stupid.  I actually thought of just leaving my ticket there but I still have to explain what happened.  So I approached a train station personnel.  I forgot the Japanese word for “fall” so I just used my broken Japanese and sign language.  Fortunately, the personnel understood me and confirmed it by asking “ochita?“  I nodded and she rushed down the platform and had a colleague pick up my ticket using that very long clipper.

Defective faucet?

Just like many things here, the faucets in our office’s toilet are sensor-activated. Once you move your hands away from it, the water immediately stops flowing. For my 3-month stay with the current company, never did one of them failed until that weird incident.

I’ve been busy at work lately that I need to stay in the office beyond my normal schedule. I was alone in the toilet at that time. When I moved my hands away from the faucet, the water still kept on flowing. I waited for a few more seconds, while deliberating whether I report it to I don’t know whom, or just leave it flowing like that. For about a minute it kept on flowing and to my relief it finally stopped. The weird thing is that it stopped as soon as an officemate entered the toilet. Only then did I get scared.

I usually stay longer in the toilet to do some stretching every time I feel sleepy. Plus, we could see the Osaka Castle and the castle grounds from there, so just staring out the window is really refreshing. But after that incident, eerie thoughts come to mind everytime I enter the toilet. I want to think of it as a technical glitch but…

Thursday Thirteen #14

A tag from Bing of Everything Green on my favorite movies.
I’m still catching up on memes so I hope you’ll bear with me. :D I really love these 13 movies that I’ve watched each of these for at least 6 times and I could watch them for 6 times more!

On being a hopeless romantic:
1. Ever After – I think being Danielle in this movie is best role Drew Barrymore ever portrayed.
2. Only You (Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. )
3. While You Were Sleeping (Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman)
4. Notting Hill (Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant)
5. Emma (Gwyneth Paltrow)
6. Pride and Prejudice (Keira Knightley)

Fantasy films:
7. Lord of the Rings (all three of them)
8. Harry Potter (all of them)
9. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
10. Ella Enchanted

This movie always makes me laugh:
11. Little Giants – the football players who belonged to this team were so adorable. My favorite character was the asthmatic one. Devon Sawa and Shawna Waldron were in this movie.

Cartoons:
12. Mulan
13. Cinderella (1950)

Stephen in Osaka

Stephen of Sun Jun visited Osaka. Reunited with other ex-officemates, I shamelessly feasted on all-you-can-eat buffet! And after more than a year, I was able to eat leche flan again!

I really miss hanging out with friends from company #4. It’s really nice seeing you here, Steph!

By the way, in the Philippines, we refer to all-you-can-eat buffet as “eat-all-you-can“. But here in Japan, it is referred to as “viking“. Dunno why…

Vaio Wishes…

Got tagged by Rolando of My Hush Space on dream gadgets.

Ever since I laid eyes on Rico’s Sony Vaio laptop, I knew I should have one, no matter how long it takes. More than 5 years have passed since my first encounter with Sony Vaio, better (and better-looking) models emerged and the more I want to have one. But I still don’t know when I could afford even the cheapest Sony Vaio. All I could do now is visit these every week at the nearest electronics store. :D

Me on a Cover?

I was sick these past few days and so I sort of took some days off blogging. I spent my time in bed watching Korean drama. :D Thank you very much for dropping by and for saying hello.

I was browsing through my friends’ blogs and came across many “fake” magazine covers with their photos. So I made my very own fake magazine cover…
