exposé

Exposing more of me by a tag from Elaine:

Are you in a complicated love situation?
Yes, I think so. But maybe I’m the only one who’s making it complicated? mmmm…

Do you hate more than 3 people?
Yes. The number of corrupt government officials definitely exceeds that. But then hate is a strong word. I prefer “irritated”.

The last thing you drank?
Coffee with milk. It’s actually “Nescafe 3 in 1″ sent by my mother from the Philippines.

Favorite chocolate bar? Nestle crunch and Kit-kat white

How many pairs of shoes do you own? Too few for a lady, I guess.

Favorite genre of music? Alternative, Praise and Worship

Do you like beer? No. I don’t drink.

What are your favorite color(s)? Yellow and navy blue

Is anyone in love with you? I’m no longer sure.

Pepsi or Sprite? Coca cola!

How many video games do you own?
None. But I loved Super Mario way back in highschool. (waahhh I’m old)

Does look matters? I’d be lying if I say no. But it’s not on top of my list.

Are you too forgiving? I think so…

Do you own a gun? No. I’m scared of these things.

What did you do last night? The usual. Chat with family and friends.

Nicknames?
Shiera, Lynlyn, Inday.
But Lynlyn and Inday are exclusive for my family and relatives only, ok? ;)

Are you thinking about somebody right now? Yes

Are you happy with your life right now? Not really. But I’m trying?

Do you like your hair? No offense to my hair. But no.

Does anyone like you?
I have a bunch of friends, plus my family and relatives… so that’s a big yes.

Last thing you read? Oracle Relational Programming. I’m at work. hehe

Are you afraid of the dark? Only after watching a scary movie.

Have you ever stripped?
Yes, before taking a shower. Wait… did you mean the “unusual” way stripping?

Can you cook? Of course I can. But don’t ask if it’s delicious.

Money or Love?
I’m a hopeless romantic so I prefer love. If you love someone, you want the best for that person… so money would follow. Don’t you think so?

Do you enjoy scary movies? No. I prefer romantic comedy and anime.

When was the last time you said “i love you”?
Last night to my parents. It was Valentine’s Day…

I’m not tagging anyone. But if you like this one, please feel free to grab it. :)

Thursday Thirteen #12

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

Happy day for guys here in Japan because they’ll receive chocolates from the ladies. And no, we are not going to give out “obligatory” chocolates this year to our officemates. There are way too many guys at the office, the budget is low, and most of them are single! We are just avoiding any possible misconception.
Here are my Valentine’s Day treats for you. I got this from some online stores and if you click these images, you would be redirected to the source. No, this is definitely not a paid post. I just placed these here because they’re so cute and mouth-watering! Enjoy!

I Spoke fluent Japanese!

I was just sitting while doing nothing at our small (sari-sari) store in my hometown when 3 people, obviously a family, approached the store. The family consisted of middle-aged parents and a teenage boy and was obviously sun-baked. They approached the people chilling out infront of our store and I was very surprised to hear them speak in Japanese! They were asking all those people if somebody speaks Japanese and I stepped forward.

The interrogation began. I learned that they just took their fishing boat from Japan in the hope of reaching the Philippines. They were jubilant upon learning that they’ve finally arrived at the right country and when asked why, they said they were in search of their eldest son who was a fisherman and was rumored to have been swept to a Philippine shore.

Months of sailing depleted their food supply, so they appeared famished. I then asked my cousin to prepare meals for them. I continued to question them while having their fill when my mother arrived… then I woke up!

Yes, it was (honestly) just a dream but I bet that my Nihongo at that time was really good!

Photohunt: Heavy

Miraculously, there was a heavy snow fall here in Osaka this morning until late in the afternoon. Look at the wide grin I’m wearing. Like almost every person who grew up in a tropical country, I’ve wished of seeing snow and it came true today! :D I actually recorded two short videos but I still have to find a way to rotate it.

Welcome!

Welcome to the new home of Bisdak Babbles!

After painstakingly trying to find my way around my web host, it really feels great to have finally finished setting this up.

For my web host, I am using 1 & 1.
Why did I choose 1 & 1?

  • It is one of the cheapest web host around
  • They’re giving out huge discounts for their 20th year anniversary
  • Read many good reviews
  • It’s one of the few web hosts that has PayPal payment option.
  • Minimum contract is only for 6 months (obviously, my PayPal account didn’t have enough to pay for those that require at least a year lock-in period)
  • With my selected package, I already have 2 free main domains and 25 sub-domains.
  • I’m entitled to 1000 emails! (I’ve been wondering what to do with all 1000 emails)
  • I could have up to 100 databases.
  • They support WordPress. Though their default WordPress installation doesn’t offer much theme options.

I’m really overjoyed because:

  • Through WordPress, I was able to migrate everything! Including the precious comments!
  • I can now have “real” smileys :D
  • I can now use “The Calendar” with ease
  • Hundreds of easy-to-use themes

If you’re planning to sign up for 1 & 1, I’d be very willing to give yo some tips. They don’t offer much instructions on how to setup your own WordPress. Maybe I’ll post here a short tutorial soon. ;)

This is still a work in progress. For those who were linked to me, no worries, I’m still working on the list and I’d be adding up that soon, together with the blog awards and friendship badges.

Thank you all! I’m very happy to have finally made my move… welcome to my new home!

But I feel kind of sad about having left Blogspot. After all, it had been my home for over a year.

Business Plans?

Lately, what little business-minded gene in me has been in its active state. I think I have mentioned before that my family (particularly on my father’s side), artistic gene has been passed from generation to generation. I have a handful of close relatives who know their way around painting, handicraft making, and even interior design, without even going to a design school!

I wish I could show you some photos of the works my late Uncle Victor did, or the very artistic and refreshing t-shirt and banner designs made by his daughter, or the indigenous and very amazing Christmas lanterns a cousin made. They have the talents, yet they don’t have to finances to make full use of these God-given gifts. It’s impossible to advertise, and the local customers is not much of a market.

Now that I am already familiar with what internet could do, I am thinking of ways to help them out. Yes, you got it right. I want to put up an online business which would require only a small capital. I already know how to pull the strings in making a website. Plus, there is no more need for me to have my own online shop developed as there are lots of ecommerce software available now. They are very
easy to setup, I don’t have to get my hands dirty in maintenance, and they don’t cost a lot! The only thing left for me to do now is to find that capital. :D

Ctrl + Alt + Arrow Key

I always open tons of applications simultaneously in my computer. One time, it was annoyingly, horribly slow that I decided to hit Window’s “hottest key combination”, the Ctrl-Alt-Del… or so I thought. When I looked at my screen, I panicked to see this:

I mistakenly hit the Ctrl+Alt and the left arrow key. If your laptop’s a Dell Inspiron 1300, try that.. it’s pretty cool. I’m not sure though if the same works for other laptops.

Thanks to my flatmate, Jet. If not for her, I’d have went to work with a stiff neck and a still lop-sided display.

The solution: Ctrl + Alt + Up Arrow Key

Valentine’s Day Question

Nothing beats receiving comments here in my blog. These just show that you really take the time to read what I write in here, except of course for those spam comments. I love comments and these inspire me to keep on blogging, so I hope you all will keep on reading what I write here and leave me some footprints. ;)

However, there are times when polls are more appropriate form of reader interaction. Speaking of polls, there is one Valentine-related question I have always wanted to ask:

Which of these do you think is the best Valentine’s gift for a special lady?
(a) flowers + chocolates
(b) stuffed toys
(c) romantic dinner
(d) jewelry

I wanted to post this question as one of myspace surveys. Perhaps I will do that later.

Here in Japan, as I have mentioned in an entry a year ago, that the ladies here are the ones who give a Valentine’s Day gift to the guys, commonly in the form of chocolates. Special and nicely-wrapped chocolates usually express the special feeling one has to the receiver.

This is indeed a very difficult and could be an embarrassing task for a lady, so I am very lucky to have been born in a country where Valentine’s Day is definitely ladies’ day!

A Night With Okonomiyaki

Akane-san, some Filipino friends, and I were supposed to meet at Tully’s Cafe in *Umeda but almost everyone had to work overtime, leaving Akane-san and me to splurge in one of my favorite Japanese food: okonomiyaki! Okonomiyaki is considered as the Japanese-style pancake or pizza. But it is far from being a junk food as its ingredients mainly include chopped cabbage and some bits of sea foods.

While waiting for our okonomiyaki, there’s nothing better to do than take photos with our food-endorser wannabes pose:

And the star of the night, the mouth-watering okonomiyaki:

Please check out this entry for more pictures of okonomiyaki.
