Website download, anyone?

If it were ten years ago, I would not mind taking with me some books as references. Now, when I go to a meeting or when I need to do a presentation, I would just take my laptop with me, connect to the internet, and access the websites I need from the venue! But what if there’s no internet connection, not even a wireless internet connection? I sometimes download the necessary pages beforehand. However, it is way too inconvenient to download the pages one by one.

Recently, with the help of a user-friendly software, website download is already possible! You could even select which pages, images, videos, and audios to download.
There is no need to worry if your internet connection is not good because it can recover from download interruptions.

Imagine downloading your whole blog into your hard drive. Amazing, isn’t it? Go check out this website now and learn more about this new software.

Weapon against insomnia

When I’m stressed, worried, or when my sleeping time changes, I find it very hard to have a decent sleep and this usually lasts for weeks. I’ve tried everything to fight this problem – warm milk, herbal tea, warm bath, counting imaginary sheep, the list goes on and on but nothing helped. Finally, as I have mentioned in one of my posts, I found an effective solution: red wine or any alcoholic drink. I seldom drink, so a little amount of red wine makes me instantly sleepy, but I’m afraid I’ll become dependent to it. Also, when I’m worried over something, just like now, alcohol doesn’t help at all!

I came across this website that introduces a very unique insomnia help. It is not a form of diet, it is not even a pill, but it is something you just have to listen to. It’s called Sleep Deprivation CD! In that CD, there are soothing tones that influence the brain waves and put the mind and body into a relaxed state. You don’t even need to put some effort to listen to it. Very cool, eh?

Go check out this website and find answers to your sleep deprivation problem. I am planning to buy one for my self soon.

Featured Blog #1: My GPS Camera Phone

Last year, some blogging friends gave me awards and friendship badges. Once again, thank you very much! This year, it’s time for me to return the favor. Every month, I will feature at least two blogging friends, on Mondays. The sequence solely depends on the badge completion. I’m still thinking of new badges for most of the awards, so those will be given out later.

On to the awarding…

The first award goes to Pete of My GPS Camera Phone as a Photography Idol! Go check out Pete’s blog and you’ll see the unique, amazing, and thought-provoking photos he took using his cellphone’s camera. Pete sure is the embodiment of the word “creative”. He’s also constantly sharing tips on how to make the most of your phone camera, along with some image tricks using tools such as the Adobe Photoshop. Visit his blog now and you’ll find yourself going back for more exciting posts and photos.

By the way, Pete once invited me to contribute to his blog. Though my contribution paled in comparison to his photos, I’m really grateful. Thanks again, Pete!

Glassed Princess

Last week’s Wordless Wednesday, I featured a photo of the princess display at the Shin-Osaka train station:

I’m sorry Pete I could not provide more details as I couldn’t read those writings behind the figure. Now, look at these photos of a lady (a live one!) we saw during our Sakura Hunting last Spring in Kyoto. She’s wearing a princess’ kimono from the Heian Period. Don’t you think this lady and that glassed figure’s kimono “style” have some similarities?

Photo Hunt: Delicious

In the Philippines, a party seems incomplete without a roasted pig or lechon baboy:

It’s been more than a year since I had my fill of this delicious lechon baboy and other Filipino dishes. Staring at this picture sure makes me hungry.Thank you for dropping by!
I look forward to staring at your “delicious” photos and drool over it.P.S.
To those who don’t eat pork or to those who don’t eat pork this way, I hope this photo does not offend you in any way. This is simply my favorite food. Thank you for understanding.

On Vacuum Cleaners

Who does not like using vacuum cleaners in getting rid of those persistent dust bunnies or in cleaning that carpet in the family room? Convenient it sure is. But at times, I can’t help feeling I might have not chosen our vacuum cleaner well. May it be a lacking feature or I could still see particles with the expelled air.

Then I came across Dyson vacuum cleaners. Dyson has vacuum cleaners for carpeted homes, different floor surfaces, allergy sufferers, and/or pet owners. You could either opt for handheld, upright, or cylinder range vacuum cleaners. For every upright and cylinder Dyson vacuum cleaner, you don’t have to worry about its parts and labour for 5 years! I’m not just babbling here. Go check out Dyson’s online store and you will find bonuses such as free delivery or free car cleaning kit. The vacuum cleaners are amazing and the special treats are great that you may be tempted to buy more than one!

Like Raindrops?

I recently watched the Korean movie “Two Faces of My Girlfriend” and there’s a conversation between the lead actor and actress that struck me…

Lady: Love is like the raindrops on our window.
Guy: Why?
Lady: They evaporate then leave stains behind.

I’m a hopeless romantic and I want my “happily ever after” so I choose not to believe this. How about you?

Yet, if that one love leaves you or is taken away from you, he/she undeniably leaves his/her footprints in your heart…

Thursday Thirteen #8

A tag from Pretty Life Online and my Thursday Thirteen entry:

These have been our family’s new year beliefs and practices. But we no longer believe nor observe many of these…

1. Wear something new so that you’ll have many new clothes for the whole year. If you don’t have something new, wear your best clothes.

2. Wear polka-dots. Those dots resemble money, so you’ll have lots of money for the whole year.

3. 13 Kinds of fruits on your table. So that you’ll have a fruitful year! I don’t know why it should be thirteen, though.

4. There must be money on your wallet. If your wallet is empty, you’d have little money throughout the year.

5. You must wear something that has a pocket and fill those pockets up with coins. So that it’d always be filled with coins!

6. Fill up your rice dispenser and all the condiments’ containers so that you’ll never run out of these.

7. The refrigerator must be overflowing with food so that it would always be full of food throughout the year.

8. Everyone in the family must be present so that you’ll be together always.

9. Turn on every thing that produces sounds: turn to its full volume every music gadget, turn on your car’s engine and honk the horn at the strike of midnight, etc. Yes, it’s really chaotic in the neighborhood at this time.

10. Don’t spend a single dime or you’ll be presented with every possible reason to spend.

11. Clean all the corners of the house to have an orderly life throughout the year.

12. Of course, there shouldn’t be any fighting or you’ll have to face many conflicts throughout the year.

And my favorite…
13. Jump as high as you can so that you’d grow taller! I’ve been doing this for years but nothing extraordinary happened… well, at least I’m a couple inches taller than my mother and younger sister. ^-^

Let It Snow

Winters spent in Japan: 3
Heavy Snowfall experienced/seen: none
Wet flurries experienced: 2-3 times (but for only about an hour. Not enough to pile up!)

Biting cold, numb fingers and toes… these seem pointless without experiencing snowball fights or slippery roads even for at least once a year!

For two days, I’ve been “snow-catching”. The weather forecast said that there’ll be snow in Kyoto so, I’ve been taking the train to Kyoto with the hope of seeing snow, but came home disappointed.

I can hear some of you telling me to go to the northern part of Japan to find what I’m looking for. I wish I could! I’d love to! But due to many circumstances, I still couldn’t. So, I’m now singing at the top of my lungs: “let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Please, let it snow in Osaka this year at least for once!

And So It Begins

It’s officially year 2008! I planned on attending the midnight mass but I chose to stay behind due to some emergencies at home. This kept me awake, made me wake up very late and missed my chance to watch the first sunrise of the year!

This afternoon, I finally decided to shake off my worries and anxiety and went out to continue my quest to find snow! Unfortunately, the weather forecasts failed me for the second time because there wasn’t a single speck of snow in Kyoto. Perhaps if I opt for the Kyoto mountains, I could have seen lots of it. Anyway, at least I saw and took this picture of the first sunset this year.

I also took up the challenge to blog for 365 days this year and joined Blog 365. I’m inviting everyone to join!
