Wordless Wednesday #3: Birthday Gifts 2008
Blog Break Lessons
I have the tendency to hide from the world when facing difficulties, thus, my 1-week blog break. It was really worth it because it’s now more apparent that I’ve really won new friends through blogging, and I was able to reevaluate my motives for blogging. But it came with some disadvantages…
* I swear not to stay away from blogging for more than 3 days or else I’d have to spend long hours catching up with everyone.
* At least try to take note of those who’re tagging me or else I’d have to spend my time looking for my name in everyone’s posts. The sad thing is, I wasn’t able to find it and I think I may have forgotten to add her blog in my list. I’m really sorry, whoever you are. I hope you’d leave me a message that it’s you who tagged me in a “hidden meaning of names” meme.
* I have to put off replying to the comments posted while I was gone, but believe me, I’ve read all your comments and I love reading them! Thank you. ![]()
I’m deactivating my comment moderation but I’ve enabled the word verification. I’m becoming lazier logging in to my dashboard just to filter out the spams. I’ll just delete them later. ^^
I’m Back
I’ve only been away from blogging for a week but it felt like months! Thank you very much to those who dropped by despite my “blog absence”. Above all, I’m very grateful to those who’ve expressed their concerns and to those who gifted me their prayers. Thank you very much! I’m really touched. You guys make blogging really worthwhile. ![]()
I’ve also placed back my shout box. I agree with one of the visitors here that shout boxes are really useful for interacting with other bloggers. Plus, my blog seems so lonely without it. However, I will still keep the comment moderation active.
I mentioned about my new domain, but I’m still working on it. So, for now, I’ll continue posting here. See you all around the blogosphere!
For now, Sayonara
Not for me…
On Spam Comments and Messages
Hello friends, fellow bloggers, and visitors,
Recently, I’ve been receiving unpleasant comments and not so nice shout box messages, as well as others I consider as spam. Due to this, I’ve decided to remove my shout box and activated comment moderation.
I’ve always loved hearing from you guys, so I’ve placed a “Contact Bisdak Babbles” form at the lowest portion of my side bar.
I hope you will bear with me and keep on dropping by.
Thank you very much!
Bike Limbo
I was thinking of a title for this post when I remembered Rolando’s post about limbo.
Merriam Webster’s definition of limbo:
a: a place or state of restraint or confinement
b: a place or state of neglect or oblivion
c: an intermediate or transitional place or state d: a state of uncertainty
Below is a “limbo” for the bicycles in Osaka after they’ve been taken away by the city government for illegal parking. Have you noticed those yellow tags? Those serve as “warnings”.
If the government does another “bike operation” and if your bike still has that yellow tag, then prepare your 2,000 yen to get it back. Most of the Japanese would rather buy another bike than go through the trouble of finding the right one in this sea of bicycles.
How about you? Are you willing to go through the trouble of finding the right one or would you rather buy another one?
These bicycles face two destinies: they could be reunited with their owner, or they could fall into the hands of second hand shops.
But, I don’t know how long these bicycles are allowed to wait here…

New Year Tag
Got tagged by Erra…
Here’s the rule: Remove 1 question from below, and add in your personal question, make it a total of 20 questions, then tag 8-10 people in your list, list them out at the end of this post. Notify them in their chat box that he/she has been tagged. Whoever does the tag will have blessings from all.

Thursday Thirteen #9

Thank you to those who remembered and greeted. Thank you also to those who are still going to do so. ^^
This day made me recall how great my birthdays were 2 decades ago. It’s really amazing how little things could make a child happy. I wish I could be like a child again.
Here are the reasons why I loved celebrating my birthdays as a child:
1.) Wake up at the birthday songs being played.
2.) My favorite birthday song was (and still is) a Tagalog one, and sung by children.
3.) Hearing my mother bustling in the kitchen preparing the “birthday breakfast”. I usually don’t eat breakfast because I often woke up late. But on my birthdays, I woke up early.
3.) Being absent from class. I didn’t usually go to school on my special day.
4.) Take a bath without much nagging from my mother. I hated taking an early bath because the water was cold and we didn’t (and still don’t) have a water heater.
5.) Wearing my favorite dress, the newest if there’s one.
6.) The chance to wear my shoes! I went into a public school from 1st-6th grade where wearing shoes was not mandatory. So I went to school wearing just sandals.
7.) Going to the city! We’re only about 45 minutes away from Iligan City but my parents rarely took us with them. So, it’s a big treat!
8.) Going to church, light candles, and say my birthday prayer (and wishes!).
9.) Being treated to foods that I fancied (ice cream, chocolates, cotton candy, pop corn, etc).
10.) Dropping by a bakeshop to buy a small birthday cake.
11.) The simple birthday dinner with everyone in the family present.
12.) Blowing candles.
13.) Taking pictures! I’ve always loved picture taking and so does my family.
Wordless Wednesday #2: Someone got really pissed
Let There Be Peace
For decades, my family’s been living in Lanao del Norte in Mindanao. Mindanao is very beautiful and we love living there, if not for the constant red alerts.
Yesterday, civilians from our neighboring towns were once again mandated to evacuate due to an impending rebel attack. Sadly, incidents like this have been going on for decades. A huge percentage of poverty-stricken Filipinos are located in the war-torn Mindanao. Obviously, these wars scare away investors, hindering the progress of many places in Mindanao.
The cause of these wars? It is said that our brothers from some separatist groups demanded the formation of an independent Moro Islamic state in Mindanao. Obviously, the Philippine government declined this demand.
Many of those separatists might still have noble intentions for such demand, but what if they are just being taken advantage of by some leaders for their own selfish goals? Rumor has it that the group recruits anyone who’s willing regardless of their ethnicity or religion. Who wouldn’t be tempted to join in exchange for a sack of rice a month and meager compensation? Better that than being jobless at all.
Poverty causes war. But war causes poverty. Wouldn’t it be better if we just fight poverty but not with war? Can’t we just live in harmony? After all, we’re in one nation, we’re all Filipinos.
This seems like an impossible feat but I’m still praying for all these conflicts to stop.
Let there be peace in Mindanao…
Let there be peace in the whole world…
