Thursday Thirteen #8

A tag from Pretty Life Online and my Thursday Thirteen entry:

These have been our family’s new year beliefs and practices. But we no longer believe nor observe many of these…

1. Wear something new so that you’ll have many new clothes for the whole year. If you don’t have something new, wear your best clothes.

2. Wear polka-dots. Those dots resemble money, so you’ll have lots of money for the whole year.

3. 13 Kinds of fruits on your table. So that you’ll have a fruitful year! I don’t know why it should be thirteen, though.

4. There must be money on your wallet. If your wallet is empty, you’d have little money throughout the year.

5. You must wear something that has a pocket and fill those pockets up with coins. So that it’d always be filled with coins!

6. Fill up your rice dispenser and all the condiments’ containers so that you’ll never run out of these.

7. The refrigerator must be overflowing with food so that it would always be full of food throughout the year.

8. Everyone in the family must be present so that you’ll be together always.

9. Turn on every thing that produces sounds: turn to its full volume every music gadget, turn on your car’s engine and honk the horn at the strike of midnight, etc. Yes, it’s really chaotic in the neighborhood at this time.

10. Don’t spend a single dime or you’ll be presented with every possible reason to spend.

11. Clean all the corners of the house to have an orderly life throughout the year.

12. Of course, there shouldn’t be any fighting or you’ll have to face many conflicts throughout the year.

And my favorite…
13. Jump as high as you can so that you’d grow taller! I’ve been doing this for years but nothing extraordinary happened… well, at least I’m a couple inches taller than my mother and younger sister. ^-^
