Bicycle Galore

It may be winter but this does not stop me from biking around if I have time. My bicycle is so much part of me now that walking for a short distance gives me leg muscle pains. My faithful bike serves as my transportation, my only “workout”, and my most helpful companion especially when I do my groceries.

Did I make the right choice? I sure did. But it would have been a lot nicer if I was able to at least customize its looks. I happened to drop by XYZ Bikes and there is at least a couple of bikes from their catalog that caught my eyes. Especially this yellow bike! Yes, you have the option to put in some decorations or attach other accessories you want.

Take a look at these very cool Classic beach cruisers. They look so comfortable, durable, and the colors are great, too! If you don’t have time to drop by their shop, you could order through ebay and have them delivered right at your doorsteps! They even offer international shipping!

Thursday Thirteen #11

I admit that it’s almost impossible to understand women. We don’t usually directly say what we want to say. We expect others, especially the one who’s dearest to us, to “feel” what we really need and want.
So, for guys out there, here are recommendations on what to do best when…

1) When she pushes or hit you, hug her tight.

2) When she starts cursing at you, say “i love you”.

3) When you break her heart, the pain never really goes away.

4) When she’s quiet, hold her hand and ask her what’s wrong.

5) When she ignores you, act cute so she’ll notice you.

6) When you see her at her worst, tell her you love her and she still looks amazing.

7) When she’s scared, assure her you’re not going to leave her.

8) When she lays her head on your shoulder, tilt your head too .. and hold her hand.

9) When she teases you, tease her back and make her laugh.

10) When she misses you, she’s hurting inside.

11) When she says that she likes you, she really does, more than you could understand.

12) When she tells you a secret, keep it safe and untold.

13) When she pulls away, pull her back.

Believe me, these little acts have the power to melt a woman’s heart away.

Featured Blog #2: Pangan Thoughts

Rico started his online journal in 1999, when the word “blog” still didn’t ring a bell, when Blogger, WordPress, and other blog sites were still non-existent. Back then, Tripod hosted his blog and his laptop was the most beautiful laptop I’ve ever seen (I’ve always had a crush on all Sony Vaio computers).

Like the rest of Rico’s readers, his written (but not offensive) observations on other people amuse me, unless I find unpleasant comments about me! Be warned, Rico… hehe. He always has new ideas to keep his readers hooked into his blog. I just hope you’ll post more often, Rico. ;)

I’ve always enjoyed reading Rico’s posts. For years, I’ve been an avid reader of his blog. Rico also has amazing photos that I would like to give him one of the “Photography Idol Award” but this one suits him best:

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 … Done!

Got tagged by Siani

1. Name one thing you do everyday.
* Chat with my family through Skype.

2. Name two things you wish you could learn.
* beautiful singing voice – is this an in-born talent, or can this be acquired through voice lessons? I’ve always dreamed of becoming someone like Darlene Zschech but my voice just doesn’t allow it.
* interior design and/or fashion design

3. Name three things that remind you of your childhood.
* The board game: Millionaire’s Game
* Laced white socks – My mother was obsessed with laced socks that she even bought me such socks to be worn with my high school uniform! I never wore them again after getting weird glances from my classmates.
* Our small “sari-sari” store – Being the good daughter that I was, I spent my week nights and weekends being in charge of that tiny store.

4. Name four things you love to eat but rarely do.
* sashimi and sushi – very expensive even in Japan, or should I say, especially in Japan?
* lechon baboy – is there a restaurant here in Osaka that serves this?
* shrimp, crab, octopus, and squid – I love these seafoods but then I’m allergic to these.
* durian – You clearly couldn’t find this here in Japan.

5. Name five things/people that make you feel good.
* a call, a text message, or email from family, friends, and comments from blogging friends
* a haircut
* a romantic comedy film, may it be Korean, Japanese, or English
* a cup of my favorite Java Chip Mocha at Starbucks or Cafe Mocha at Tully’s cafe
* ice cream

I’ll be doing a lot of tagging later so I won’t tag anyone here. But if you like to grab this, please do. It would be a pleasure to know more about you guys. :)

Another Disturbing Movie

Once again, I got the misfortune of watching another troubling Japanese movie.

The first one was a entitled 2LDK. 2LDK specifies an apartment with 2 bedrooms, living room, dining room, and kitchen. The story revolved around the two roommates who were both vying for a lead role in a movie. Jealousy and and extreme differences led both women to kill each other.

Now, I’ve just finished watching ????????, read as “Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru“, which means “I Love My Younger Sister”. The title says it all. The lead character Yori Yuki, portrayed by Jun Matsumoto, had always been in love with his twin sister Iku. Iku, on the other hand had also been in love with Yori. I was hoping that the movie would at least clear things up and include something that would take off my mind from the incest going on this movie. However, the movie ended with the two of them still into the forbidden relationship.

This troubled me a lot so I had to do some research regarding this story which was based on the manga (comic) of the same title. To my relief, I found out that Iku was actually adopted. But I’m still troubled by the movie so I must watch another one that would eventually make me forget about it…

Photohunt: Old-fashioned

I don’t know who started beauty pageants for children and I can’t comprehend why hold such event. For me, I prefer not to expose children to an “adult-like” world. Children should be left alone to play and explore the world at their own pace. Anyway, I was still so small when my mother first dragged me to join such event in the town fiesta…

Fortunately, we didn’t have to engage in talent showdown and question-and-answer portion. The “queen” was determined in an old-fashioned way: draw lots.

(cute old-fashioned gowns, eh?)

For my 5-time participation in such event, I wasn’t lucky enough to be queen. This is still practiced in my hometown, and yes, it’s still done in the old-fashioned way, especially for children.

Thank you very much for dropping by… have a nice weekend everyone!

On Medical Careers

I have been asked a few times, especially by some relatives, why I hadn’t took up a medical course. Or, if I’m planning to follow some of friends and gear towards a medical career.

My answer to both questions: I’m scared of seeing (lots of) blood, and I usually panic at the sight of a nasty wounds. I know anyone could get used to these given more exposure, but I just can’t. However, I do want someone in the family to take up a medical course because nobody did. The reason being the spiraling cost of medical school fees.

If given the capacity to send someone to a medical school, I would definitely make sure that he/she gets the best medical training there is. With the increasing demand for medical professionals, the number of institutions that offer medical training is also rising. This gives us a harder time giving a harder time which institution could best cater our needs.

Thankfully, many medical training information are now available in the internet. You can even enroll in an online medical career training school!

An I.T. job becomes boring when…

1.) All you’ve been doing for over 6 months is read specifications and some were written in a language that you don’t understand!

2.) No “real” deadline to catch, or worse, you don’t even know the project schedule!

3.) No specific role assigned and you don’t have a specific module you can call your “own”.

4.) It’s a bit embarrassing to eat potato chips to fight off sleepiness. The office is so silent that you’re afraid everyone would hear you munching.

5.) Everyone looks so busy and you think you’re the only one slacking off.

6.) For quite a time, there’s no update from your leader and you keep on thinking what if the next update would be about the project being finished or it’s you who’s already finished.

7.) No work email addressed to you. All that goes into your mailbox is through the team’s mailing list.

8.) Everyone’s gone to the project meeting and design/code reviews and you’re left alone in your team’s work area.

9.) Instant Messengers are banned.

10.) Listening to the music during work hours is not allowed.

11.) Lots of people could see your monitor from behind, so you’re forced to open work-related documents and web sites only.

12.) You can’t just open a website for fear of pop-up windows and spywares.

13.) When you’ve read all your friends’ blogs and you can’t explore new ones because of #12.

Make the right choice

Managing your own domain is really cool. It may not be as easy as we all think, but it is fun and challenging. I have always wanted to have a complete control over my blog and I finally took the first step. I recently bought my own domain, sought the services of a web host, and I am still in the process of completing my move. I am really excited!

How about you? Do you have plans on doing the same thing but still have no web hosting choice? Ask your friends who have their own domains for feedbacks. Better yet, search through Web Hosting Choice, a comprehensive online guide to web hosting. In there, you could easily compare prices and features between web hosts. Good luck to your search for a web host that perfectly meets your needs!
