Every time …

This photo was taken from Wikipedia
I was still in Cebu when the Amagasaki Rail Crash occurred more than 2 years ago. I felt sorry for the casualties, their families, and those injured… but I never felt fear because there were no trains in Cebu! (Of course, I hadn’t forgotten that jeepneys are a lot more dangerous than taking the trains.)

But now that I am already here, I can’t help but fret every time I board the train to work. Plus, I always pass by Amagasaki! Most of the casualties were from the first 3 cars, so I always avoid cars 1-3, 4 included!

I agree that no matter what we do, if it’s our time to leave this life, there’s no avoiding it. But still… I just can’t be at peace when I’m in the first 4 cars. ^-^

A Peek at My Soul?

I admit, some of the things mentioned here are true and I really want my future to be calm, relaxing, and how I want it to be:)

What Your Soul Really Looks Like

You are a wanderer. You constantly long for a new adventure, challenge, or even a completely different life. You are a very grounded, responsible, and realistic person. People may not want to hear the truth from you, but they’re going to get it.

You see yourself with pretty objective eyes. How you view yourself is almost exactly how other people view you.

Your near future is calm, relaxing, and pretty much what you want. And it’s something you’ve been anticipating for a while now.

For you, love is all about caring and comfort. You couldn’t fall in love with someone you didn’t trust.

Please, tell me…

I was on a train to Kobe…

Stop 1: A man in wheel chair accompanied by a woman boarded the train, assisted by a station staff. That’s very nice. I’ve always been impressed by how Japan treat people with disabilities (PWDs).

A few minutes later, I heard the announcement that we were approaching the next stop. Then a blind woman seated in front of me stood up and loudly asked…

Blind Woman: Sumimasen, hidari deguchi wa doko desu ka? (Excuse me, where is the left exit?)

I wanted to help but it was difficult for me to approach her because I was on the window seat. The other passengers just stared at her… nobody volunteered to help! Nobody even uttered a single instruction! Then the blind lady started walking and she bumped in to many seats along the aisle.

Blind Woman: Sumimasen, hidari deguchi wa doko desu ka? Oshiete kudasai. (Excuse me, where is the left exit? Please, tell me)

Still, nobody moved a muscle. Okay, that’s it! What’s wrong with these people? I stood up but then the lady seated beside me (she’s seated along the aisle) decided to lead her to the door.

This experience left me wondering… do the station staffs help PWDs just because it’s part of their job? Mmmm… It definitely depends on each person’s attitude. It doesn’t matter where we came from and what we do. The decision is still ours to make: ignore or answer the call for help?

POS Girls reunion

I just realized that we didn’t have a team name. Based on our projects, we were usually referred to as the POS team. Anyways, 2 years after I left company #3, the POS girls met again:

Thanks Meems for visiting us here in Osaka!

100th Post!

Banzai! I’m just happy because …. this is my 100th post!

Just want to share these pictures (especially the second one)…
Whether you have a good camera or just a cell phone’s camera, taking pictures is definitely not a piece of cake. The result will still be a disaster when the photographer’s hand or the subject moves.

(1) This picture was taken using my cell phone’s camera in night mode with flash. But the photographer’s hand moved, giving us a blurry image:

(2) In here, I was the one who moved. In just one click, and without the help of a photo editor… my face turned into something scarier!

JaPinoys at Yodogawa Hanabi

Hanabi (??? or fireworks, is my favorite event in Japan and last night was my second hanabi experience here in Osaka.
Unexpectedly, as opposed to last year’s all-Filipino group, three Japanese joined us last night. Although the place we were sitting on was not so good because tall grasses and bushes covered the lower portion of our view, it was still fun. Everyone was in festive mood.
As usual, the fireworks were magnificent but I wasn’t able to get a video nor a decent picture! I hope I could bring a powerful camera next year.

Here are my petty attempts at taking pictures using my cellphone’s camera, with a little help from its little flash ^-^:

* See Ana Mae’s blog for the details on last year’s Yodo River Fireworks.

Finally… but

Sooo nice! I could breathe fresh air again… here in my room. For 3 weeks I’ve been putting off cleaning this little hole because I was either too busy or too lazy. Whatever free time I had, I’d rather spend it blogging! ^-^

Now that cleaning is done, I still have one “pressing” matter at hand: loads of clothes that need ironing! Waaaahhh! Before I became this “busy”, I couldn’t sleep without ironing every single cloth after it dries up. But now, I wear my “home clothes” and socks without ironing them first! Got to go… have to start this task at once!

But first, I’d like to show you this… yep, another youtube find! It’s a clip from ON THE TELEVISION Series featuring someone impersonating Imelda Marcos. I don’t know how to react on this but I found it amusing.

Sorry… embedding was disabled so I’ll just give you this link: Our Maid Imelda

Wear your Happy Slip!

Another youtube recommendation! Someone told me about this HappySlip and I’m glad I tried watching this channel.

Some of you might have heard about this already. HappySlip recently won 2nd prize for youtube’s best comedy.

In some of the videos, HappySlip impersonated her parents, aunt, and a cousin. Filipinos like me could relate to what’s in these videos and would certainly find these amusing. Here’s my favorite:

What do you want to become?

When I was about 10 years old, the professions I knew were limited to: teacher, lawyer, nurse, doctor, dentist, and engineer. I thought mathematics, science and every other school subject wouldn’t get more complicated. However, I was already aware that there’s electrical and mechanical engineering.

When asked at that time what I’d like to become, I’d immediately answer “mechanical engineer… just like my father”. I would have pursued this dream if my father hadn’t dissuaded me. He said it would be very difficult for a female mechanical engineer to find a job. So, I took up Computer Engineering, instead and I’m glad I heeded his advise.

How about you? What did you want to become? Still chasing that dream or are you already living it?
