Farewell Titi Victor

My siblings and cousins call him Titi Victor. “Titi” in Bol-anon (Bohol dialect) means uncle. I mentioned him in an entry before, one of those two uncles who loved booze. When I called home, I was greeted by the very sad news that he passed away this afternoon. This deeply saddens me but at the same time accepting that this is probably for the best. He had been suffering lots of illnesses for years already and it’s obvious that he’s just hiding his suffering from everyone… at least now, he could truly rest.

Despite his being a drunkard, I admit these two booze-lover uncles are my favorites. Titi Victor taught me a lot and I used to hang out in their place when I was younger. He only finished high school but he’s dexterous and very creative. He could be a good carpenter, a good electrician, and an excellent artist. He’d been doing lots of art stuff to earn money and more than a year ago, he asked me to post in the internet some of the home decorations he created… but I was not able to do that. I looked through the CDs I brought but none of them contained the images of those decorations… if I had only done what he asked me to do, I’m pretty sure that would have made a huge difference. There are lots of things that I would have, I should, I could have done but we could not turn back time.

To Titi Victor: despite your shortcomings, you had been a wonderful uncle to me, to us… you had made a big impact in my life, in our lives more than you’d ever known. We love you and we’re gonna truly miss you!
